Elvira returns from France to surprise her father Vincent, but learns he'll marry secretary Bianca. She sees Bianca & Mason nearly hit workers and destroy a rare Dante manuscript Vincent bought for her. Unaware of her identity, they assault her—ruin her painting, injure her hand, smash her watch, glue paper on her face, and try to strip her. Gregory abets them. Her identity is rejected. Vincent passes by, not recognizing her, and leaves with Bianca.
